Giveaway Day - May 6th

Welcome to GIVEAWAY day!

[GIVEAWAY CLOSED]

Let's celebrate my birthday month!!  Giveaway Day, hosted by Sew Mama Sew, is now a 5 day event with hundreds of blogs giving away either handmade items or supplies in several different categories.

This is my 3rd or 4th time participating and I love it!  I love finding new blogs to follow and love having the opportunity to win something!

So, up for grabs is a piece of Ikea number print [approximately 36" x 29"] and three Moda fat quarters - one  'Marbles', one 'Essential Dots' and one 'Kate Spain Terrain'.  These fours fabrics still have their selvages on which I love - hope you do too!

Also, on May 10th, I am having another giveaway to celebrate my stop on the "It's for the Birds" blog hop (and my birthday month) - so DO come back and see what I have made and enter my next giveaway!!

Today's giveaway 'small print':
  • My Giveaway Day giveaway is open worldwide!
  • Giveaway closes May 10th 2013 and I will email the winner by May 12th 2013.
  • For one entry, submit a comment on this post telling me what you make with fabric scraps!
  • For a second entry, follow my blog with Bloglovin' [see the Bloglovin' link near the top at the right hand side]!
Good luck on my giveaway and happy giveaway entering/blog hopping!

P.S. I apologise in advance that I will not be able to reply to any comments as I will be travelling during this hop and will be without Internet.  I truly appreciate your comments and hope you come back again soon!

I'm a new quilter, so not many scraps yet. I have made clothing for quite a while - with those scraps I love to make bags, pouches, card wallets, and with some bigger scraps and yardage I made a Scrappy Trip Around the World quilt!

Thanks for the chance - I have two giveaways happening too: www.craftyhour.com

Some go towards scrappy quilts, but i've been using a lot for extras on my children's clothes, a bow here, pocket there, even the tiniest of pieces can be used for covered buttons!

I've been sewing fabric scraps to muslin and making new "fabrics" out of them. I was also in a bee where we made blocks starting with a small hexagon and adding scraps to the sides to make whatever sized square you needed.

Leo said...

well first of all : Alles Gute zum Geburtstag.

So now how do I take care of my scraps - I sew them together without any order just grab a few and look for matching pairs then I trimm the uneven sides down so they are good for another scrap - then I sew the scrap pairs to other scrap pairs until they reach a certain size when I decided it woudl be better to leave them for now and then I start the next ... and one day I Will have enough for a good sized quilt. I have maybe a baby quilt together so far.

Leo said...

Yes I do follow you on bloglovin

i dont really like scraps of fabric. i keep strips from my cuttings to use as fillers for fitting (i say that like i do it all the time...i dont, im new at sewing but an online course suggested that so that's what i'm doing so far). im an avid knitter and i hate leftovers of my knitting projects. i usually give them to friends to make thigns out of but if i only have a little, i :") um.... throw it away. the clutter reallyreallyreally bothers me :")

I use scraps to make quilts, especially ones where make flowers and want particular shading or pieced backgrounds. Lately, I've been making small Chinese stacked coin quilts with scraps. I'm determined to learn to machine quilt so these will be for practice. I also have used for dolly quilt gifts for my grandnieces and table scarves. If have enough variety of scraps, then have choice of color themes too. Can you tell that I love scraps?
